Denver Recycles annual Treecycle program that normally takes place during the first two weeks of January. During this two-week collection period, Denver residents may set out their Christmas tree for recycling. All the Christmas trees collected are then ground up into mulch, which is then in turn given away to resident in the spring at Denver Recycles annual mulch giveaway and sale.. Information on this annual event is available after December 1st each year.

Mulch: Free mulch and discounted compost will be available to Denver residents at Denver Recycles’ annual Mulch Giveaway and Compost Sale. This event generally takes place the first Saturday in May. Information on this event locations and times are available after April 1st each year.

The mulch for this event is made from thousands of Christmas trees and branches. The trees and branches are ground to make mulch that is perfect for ground cover in your yard. The supply of Christmas trees comes from residents that recycled their tree in January through Denver’s annual Treecycle program. Mulch can be used to control weeds, help soil retain moisture and protect shallow-rooted plants from weather extremes.

Special Instructions: Please reove all decorations, tinsel, garlands, lights and foreign material before recycling your tree.
