web site is sponsored by Sand Dollar Research and the Colorado Municipal League. This is information is provided as a public service to the citizens of Colorado free of charge. All of the information provided on this web site has been made available by the communities, nonprofit organizations and other recyclers and care has been taken to ensure that the information is as timely and accurate as possible. However, circumstances change and it is possible that the recycler may not have provided us with updates and for that reason we recommend contacting the recycler to make certain that the information is still correct before taking your tree for recycling.
US Marine Corps - Toys for Tots Program
Again this year, you are encouraged to contribute toys or other donations to the US Marine Corps' Toys for Tots program. This extremely worthwhile program has left a smile on the face of many a child who otherwise would not have received a Christmas gift. This year, our nation is facing one of the most difficult economic times in modern history, and the need for donations and assistance will be greater than ever. Trees for Troops
Again this Christmas season, the Christmas Spirit Foundation is sponsoring the Trees for Troops program. Please use the provided link to learn more about this program and how donated trees are made available to our service men and women and their families.
Other Donation Opportunities
If you have usable clothing, furniture, electronics, household appliances, please consider donating them to organizations such as Goodwill Industries, the Association for Retarded Citizens, Habitat for Humanity or any of the many, many worthwhile organizations that assist those in financial difficulties, the elderly, those with mental and physical disabilities or other barriers that make life more difficult than it should be.
Cooking Oil

Broomfield accepts used cooking oil, motor and transmission oil. It can be brought to the Fleet Division entrance of the Norman Smith Service Center at 3001 W. 124th Avenue. Place your oil to be recycled on the blue table outside and come in to fill out a quick form. All oil containers will be returned to the owner after disposal. We will take up to five gallons a month from a household.

Tuesday - Friday 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
First Saturday of every month* from 8 a.m. - 12 noon
(*Except Holidays - we will be open the second Saturday instead) |

Through Jan. 13, 2012 residents can set out up to five gallons of cooking oil per week on their trash day.
The container should be put in front of their polycart so the trash truck driver can see it.
The cooking oil must be in a clear, one-gallon container, such as a milk jug or 2-liter pop bottle. The container must be clearly labeled as cooking oil.
Residents may also bring their cooking oil to the Maintenance & Operations Building, 12301 Claude Court, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays. Again, the oil must be in a clear, labeled, one-gallon container, with a 5-gallon limit per week.

Residents can drop-off used cooking oil, in one gallon sealed plastic containers only, at Thornton’s Infrastructure Maintenance Center, 12450 Washington Street, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding major holidays. Please use the front door entrance to the IMC building located just off of Washington Street.
This service is for residents only and cooking oil from businesses and restaurants will not be accepted. Commercial businesses can contact Rocky Mountain Sustainable Enterprises at 303-544-1500. |

Old, broken and unused holiday lights can be brought to the City of Lakewood Holiday Light Round-Up which will be held in the east lobby of Civic Center North, 480 S. Allison Parkway, Lakewood.
There are two events scheduled:
Wednesday, December 14-Friday, December 16 and
Wednesday, January 4-Friday, January 6
There will be separate bins for LED and incandescent bulbs |

You may recycle your old holiday lights at the Waste Diversion Center, 140 Martin Street. There will be a specially designated container for old light strands. Please wrap each string of lights into a ball and deposit them in the appropriate container. |
| Loveland |
Lights for Life has partnered with Ace Hardware in Loveland, 269 E. 29th Ave. to recycle Christmas tree lights. Ace Hardware will get $1 off on a new strand of LED lights when an old strand of lights is brought in for recycling. There is no limit on the number of strands that can be recycled. Proceeds from the recycling are given to area families who have children with cancer. |

Superior residents can exchange a string of their old, incandescent holiday lights for a new box of LED holiday lights - while supplies last.
It is an exchange program so bring the old lights to turn in. One string per household. Exchange can be made at the Superior Town Hall |
Want to Recycle All Those Christmas gift batteries?
Waste Management has developed kits for recycling those pesky household type batteries, we have used the kit and it is great. There are also kits for household fluorescent lights - yes, the ones before CFL's - and other items.
