Curbside: Residents can dispose of their Christmas tree with their weekly trash through Allied Waste.
Drop off sites: Residents can also recycle their Christmas tree through Douglas County at Highland Heritage Regional Park, 9651 S. Quebec, until January 31st and through South Suburban Parks and Recreation District from December 26 through January 15. Trees will be accepted at the Willow Spring Service Center, 7100 South Holly Street and at Cornerstone parking area (enter from Windermere Street south of Belleview Avenue).
Special instructions: All lights, ornaments, garland and tinsel must first be removed. Flocked trees, leaves, branches or other refuse will not be accepted at the recycling sites.
Mulch: During the recycling effort, trees will be mulched and free mulch will be available shortly after the recycling process begins. Residents can obtain mulch Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at each of the two sites.
